Event Details

What is this ?

Trainers' ThinkTank is a regular event for freelancers and companies working on the "supply side" of the learning and development industry in the Greater Bristol area and the wider South West.

We bring together trainers, coaches and HRM/HRD consultants and companies to share ideas, work on current issues, learn from each other, make contacts and identify collaboration possibilities.

After the success of our first event back in April, we're back - even bigger and better than before !

Each time we focus on a particular theme of importance and interest to those working in learning and development.

What's going to happen ?

This time (as you asked) we'll be doing some serious thinking about our own "Business Development".

As well as some of our trademark groupwork to identify the challenges, share experiences and create ideas etc., we'll be joined by three expert speakers:

Melissa Kidd of Coaching Creatives on “Networking Know-How”

  • The importance of having a networking strategy
  • Identifying appropriate events and forums
  • The importance of your interesting introduction
  • Why networking works - and when it doesn’t
  • Top networking tips and techniques to maximise your opportunities

Peter Kane of the BD Consultancy on “Contact to Contract”

  • Growing relationships after the first contact
  • Building your credibility with potential buyers
  • Maintaining the dialogue
  • Matching your offer to their needs and wants
  • Taking prospects down the “path to purchase”

Louise Billington of LouiseBillington.com on “Publicity and Promotion”

  • Deciding on your promotional strategy
  • PR primer - finding the stories in your business, pitching and press releases
  • Making the internet work for you - websites, blogs and social networking
  • Beyond the basics - OK, so you've got a website but what next ?
  • Low cost PR and marketing ideas you can implement yourself

Where and when will it be ?

We'll be in the fabulous Francis Crick room in the top floor conference suite of At-Bristol.

Coffee and informal networking etc. will be available from 9.00am and the fun proper starts at 9.30am.

We'll be wrapped up by 1.00pm, and after the event there are lots of places nearby if you wanted to continue discussions over lunch with colleagues old or new.

Why else should I attend ?

We hope to offer you some great networking opportunities: the chance for Associates and Consultancies to link up, or just to meet interesting new colleagues in the field and spend some time with "like minds".

Plus for each event we visit a new and novel training venue in the local area to give you a chance to scout them out and see them in action.

Who's doing this ?

Trainers' ThinkTank was a little idea thought up by local freelancer Lee Cottier that was popular enough to get a second time out - and is now in danger of developing a life of its own !

If you are connected to me on LinkedIn you can check out some of the great things people have said about our last event.  Or if this is all new to you and you've got questions etc., you can contact me using the link above.
